The group in a field of milkweed

In this pic, we had hiked down to the river which you can't see here, but it is in front of us and down a little ways. In this area, you can see all the milkweed wild edible plants that surround us. We actually made the hike to see a few other things though. Some of what we saw when we were here was cattail and I think we found wild asparagus as well just before this area.

From right is Dave, Kevin, Bernie, Dom, Jonika, Carolyn, Marty and me.

One of the best ways of learning this week is the hikes, walks and fieldtrips by car. It's nice to get out of the same area and clear your head of learning for a moment to drive or hike and get to a new area. Then look at new plants an even the same plants in a different setting or stage of growth. Plants often look very different just by growing in a slightly different environment but often have the same basic qualities. Learning the basics and seeing the variations is a great way to learn edible wild plants and medicinal plants. Learning and identifying wild edible plants is a great survival project for anyone interested in the survival, preparedness or just enjoys the outdoors.

CampingSurvival.com. It's not about the END OF THE WORLD - It's not about surviving a hypothetical PLANE CRASH - It's about the SATISFACTION YOU GET knowing you can take care of yourself and/or your family in ANY SITUATION, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!
