Starting the preparedness presentation

Very simple basic pic. When I start the presentation on survival skills and preparedness I begin with introducing myself and let them know why I was there. As I recall from my school days, they're probably just excited about getting out of the classroom and doing something different. To get them interested, I generally ask them what they know about and think about survival. I ask them if they hunt, do family camping or hike and tell them even if they don't do these things, a trip to grandma's house could put them in a survival situation. I also ask them about urban survival and what types of things could throw them into an urban survival situation.

We cover things like "What do you do when you realize you're lost?" Hug a tree. Why and what to do then. I talk a bit about urban survival and what you can do ahead of time to prepare for an emergency. Where some sources of extra water are in your home right now such as the tank on the back of your toilet or your hot water tank. I just try to get them thinking and maybe even provide them with some basic survival skills that could help them down the road if they ever find themselves in a survival situation.

CampingSurvival.com. It's not about the END OF THE WORLD - It's not about surviving a hypothetical PLANE CRASH - It's about the SATISFACTION YOU GET knowing you can take care of yourself and/or your family in ANY SITUATION, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!
