Hang gliding take off spot

What we did was hike to the top of the mountain and then hike around for a while and over to some great waterfalls looking for a good camping spot. You can see the slope of the mountain and the take off, runway in this pic. The wind was pretty intense at the top of the mountain and apparently is where the local hang gliders take off from.

The funny thing about this trip is what happened I think a little after we cooked up our dinner. Mark, Cocoa and I were just hanging out and we heard a car coming up the mountain. It was freaky! Here we hiked around for hours and figured we're in the wilderness. We did see some trails and figure they were for forestry workers or the like. Anyway, an SUV comes pulling up the trail and into camp. A bunch of kids (actually older than kids, college age I guess) hop out and start unloading coolers. Apparently if you are a hang glider or know hang gliders and have the key to the chain at the bottom, you can sneak up the hill and have a party. Anyway, they actually gave Mark and me a couple beers and they went down the trail a ways and we didn't see them until the morning. It was pretty funny.

CampingSurvival.com. It's not about the END OF THE WORLD - It's not about surviving a hypothetical PLANE CRASH - It's about the SATISFACTION YOU GET knowing you can take care of yourself and/or your family in ANY SITUATION, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!
