Facebook Fans Favorite Survival Tools

In February of 2010, those of us at Camping Survival wanted to celebrate the fact that we had achieved the milestone of reaching over 10,000 fans on our Facebook fan page by having a huge giveaway. The winner of the giveaway would receive a Grundig S350. In order to qualify to enter, fans e-mailed us what they felt was their favorite and most important survival tool, the lucky winner was then later picked at random from these entries.

We received an overwhelming response from our fans, all with varying opinions. Instead of just letting everyone's opinions go unheard, we went ahead and constructed a pie chart with the responses. Here it is:

The two most popular answers were a knife and the human mind/knowledge, with knife just slightly being more popular. What do you think, do you agree with the responses? Is there anything here you never thought of as important, but are now considering carrying it with you?

After the contest had ended we posted the results on our Facebook page and our fans again spoke of their varying opinions and shared their own survival knowledge with each other.
